In-depth Analysis of Extrusion Process
Extrusion is a plastic processing technology that forces materials to flow through a forming mold under hydraulic or mechanical force, continuously manufacturing fixed-section profiles. Its core value lies in the efficient production of large-sized products with complex geometries, and it is widely used in the metal (aluminum/copper alloy), engineering plastics (PVC/ABS), composite materials, and food industries.
Precise manufacturing process:
1. Raw material pre-treatment
Metal: The billet is uniformly heated above the recrystallization temperature (aluminum: 380 - 500℃; copper: 700 - 900℃)
Polymer: Pre-drying treatment eliminates hydrolysis risks and precisely controls the melt flow index (MFI)
2. High-pressure molding
● At a pressure of 10,000 - 15,000 psi, the material undergoes plastic deformation through the mold channel.
● Key control points: extrusion pressure curve, temperature gradient, extrusion speed (0.5 - 5 m/min)
3. Online quenching and shaping
● The metal profiles are quenched by air cooling or water mist to control the grain size (such as 6063-T5 aluminum alloy)
● The plastic profiles are precisely controlled for their size shrinkage rate (±0.1mm) through vacuum forming molds.
4. Post-processing project
● Tension straightening (straightness ≤ 0.5mm/m)
● Time-temperature treatment (T6 heat treatment increases metal strength by 30%)
● Surface treatment (anodizing, powder coating, etching texture)
